The Carl Daniel Quintet

The Carl Daniel Quintet plays a combination of Calypso, Latin and jazz-blues inspired tunes. Their energetic interpretations along with the infectious fun they have on stage have been delighting Ottawa audiences for over 5 years. The band members are:

Carl Daniel - Trumpet

 Edwin Gans - Alto Saxophone

 Tim Healy - Bass

 Frank Edgerton - Piano

 Tim Leah – Drums

The Carl Daniel Quintet performs around the Ottawa area at a variety of venues including Options Jazz Bar at the Brookstreet Hotel, Festival Japan restaurant and jazz bar, and O’Brien’s Pub. The various musical genres reflected in their repertoire are rooted in the members’ geographical origins. Carl hails from St. Vincent in the Caribbean where he led a band prior to arriving in Canada to perform at Expo 67 in Montreal. Frank comes to us from Costa Rica and provides the combo with its Jobim and intricate Latin rhythm influences, while Edwin and the “Tims” are from Montreal and southern Ontario, and bring their jazz/blues/rock influences to the music.

Samantha Testa

Singer, songwriter and self taught multi-instrumentalist, Samantha has quickly made her mark in multiple genres.  She has collaborated with the industry’s top producers and songwriters from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Canada and Nashville.  This vocal powerhouse was asked to open the Kitchener Bluesfest at age only 17, has sung for the American & Canadian Women's Olympic Hockey teams, and has performed at the International Talent Showcase in Raleigh, North Carolina as a representative of Canada, Germany, Hawaii and Japan.  The depth and breadth of Samantha’s vocals leave an indelible mark on a room!
